The annual Hamir Utsav Mela is one of the most famous fairs held in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. The fair is held every year in the month of April-May and is celebrated in the memory of the legendary ruler of Hamirpur, Raja Hamir Chand. It is a two day fair that attracts tourists from all around the world. The main attractions of the fair are the traditional folk dances, music, puppet shows, various stalls, competitions, a beauty pageant and a plethora of other activities.

The name Hamirpur is derived from a combination of two words; 'Hamir', the name of a Rajput chief who founded the state, and 'pur', which means town or city. Thus, the name Hamirpur literally translates to 'The Town of Hamir'. Hamirpur is believed to have been established by Raja Hamir Chand in the 16th century as the capital of the princely state of Hamirpur.
